Who’s in your corner?

Welcome to Love Mondays, a weekly newsletter designed as a 3-minute hit to fire up the other 10,077 minutes of your week.

Who's in your corner?

We all know our relationships can have a powerful impact on our lives, shaping the way we think, feel, and behave. But not all relationships are created equal. Cultivating the right types of relationships is key to unlocking our full potential and achieving our goals.

Who inspires, challenges, and supports you in your life? Write their names down.

Consider: the five people you spend the most time with professionally.

Practice: recognising what gaps exist relative to your goals - are they content, capability or confidence gaps?

Decide to: identify potential network contacts who can help you address those gaps.

You are the company you keep

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I have ever received is to think intentionally about the 5 people I spend the most time around professionally. There’s an adage that says ‘you are the company keep’ and ideally we want those people to offer diverse perspectives and challenge our thinking.

I believe there are four types of relationships worth nurturing and accessing within those 5 people at any given time: sages, supporters, sponsors, and sparring partners.

  • Sages are wise sounding boards who offer loving truth

  • Supporters cheer us on and help us believe in ourselves

  • Sponsors advocate for us and represent us, even when we're not in the room

  • Sparring Partners challenge our thinking, pushing us to be better versions of ourselves.

Do you have all four? If not, commit to start cultivating those relationships. It might be as simple as reaching out for a coffee date.

So, which relationships will you focus on building this week? Who can you reach out to and learn from? The possibilities are endless, and the rewards are immense.

Love your Mondays.
