Mental Minimalism.
Monday Musing: What if you could declutter your mind, just like you declutter your home, to create more mental space and clarity?

Clutter is nothing more than postponed decisions.

We've all been there – that overwhelming mental fatigue brought on by the daily barrage of decisions. With approximately 35,000 decisions on our plates each day, and a relentless stream of information and distractions, it's no wonder our mental bandwidth can hit its limit.
Social psychologist Roy F. Baumeister coined this phenomenon "decision fatigue," characterising the mental and emotional strain resulting from our daily choices. These decisions span from wardrobe choices to coffee orders, the selection of what to post or read on social media (did you know the average user now
spends 151 minutes a day on socials?! That's a lot of conscious and unconscious decisions right there), and even the dilemma of which email to respond to first.
Every one of those choices chips away at our mental reserves, and it can leave us drained when it's time to tackle the big stuff.
So, what's the secret to lightening the cognitive load? One transformative approach is to embrace minimalism. According to Joshua Becker, author and founder of Becoming
Minimalist, minimalism is:
“..marked by clarity, purpose, and intentionality. At its core, being a minimalist means intentionally promoting the things we most value and removing everything that distracts us from it.”
Minimalism isn't confined to Danish architecture or rooms straight from a Scandinavian furniture catalogue. It goes beyond aesthetics; just as a clutter-free environment promotes positivity, productivity, and heightened concentration, a clutter-free mind functions more efficiently and effectively, allowing you to sidestep decision fatigue and make better decisions.
Think of it as a mental spring-cleaning!

Take charge of your Monday.
Consider:
what areas in your life could embracing minimalism bring more clarity and simplicity?
Practice:
actively decluttering your choices, locking yourself out of social media, and practicing time-bound decision-making to combat procrastination.
Decide to:
focus your mental energy on the decisions that truly matter.

What's one small step you can take today to begin decluttering your mind?
