Are you a lifelong learner?
Welcome to Love Mondays, a weekly newsletter designed as a 3-minute hit to fire up the other 10,077 minutes of your week.
Live, Laugh, Love and...Learn?
When was the last time you learned something new? It might have been a new hobby, a new skill or simply acquiring new knowledge on a topic that interests you.
Lifelong Learning, or Continuous Learning, is the process of learning new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis and is one of the best ways to prosper in today's fast-changing world. In addition to helping us get away from the daily grind, learning can be energizing both mentally and physically, and can help you be a stronger and more effective leader.
What are you interested in or passionate about learning? Write it down
Consider: when was the last time you learned something new for you?
Practice: identifying your personal interests and goals. Lifelong learning is about you and your passions.
Decide to: plan out what you want to learn and what you need to do to make it happen.
Learning to love learning at any age.
In his book, Beginners: The Joy and Transformative Power of Lifelong Learning, Tom Vanderbilt asks why so many of us stop learning new skills as adults? Why do we stop exploring, learning, and discovering as we grow up?
After embarking on a yearlong quest of learning—purely for the sake of learning, he discovered that the process of learning something new, at any age, can make life seem magical. Crazy concept: you can do things simply for pleasure, just because it's fun. If it makes you happy, do it!
